Your Sussex Wedding - October/November 2019 (Issue 81)
We didn’t put too much pressure on ourselves to create the perfect day. Our perfect day was getting married. This thought helped to keep pre-wedding stress to a minimum. We flew to Montreal for our honeymoon, spent a few days there and then took the train to Toronto. We only booked it two weeks before the wedding, as is our usual last-minute holiday custom! After the majority of our guests had gone home, the stalwarts sat around a fire pit on the field. This was a magical experience under the stars. One of our bridesmaids played her ukulele while we sipped whisky by firelight. Thankfully, no one was harmed by the drunk, axe-wielding father-in-law trying to chop firewood! Looking up at the trees and holding the hand of the man I’ve always loved was the most magical moment, and remembering that feeling still makes me smile. 56
