Your Sussex Wedding - October/November 2019 (Issue 81)

SOUTHEND BARNS 01243 641 247 | southendbarns.co.uk Set on a working farm in the beautiful West Sussex countryside, Southend Barns has been lovingly restored. Surrounded by stunning landscaped gardens and peaceful courtyards, it offers a magical setting for your wedding celebrations. The courtyard lies at the heart of the venue with its luscious lawn, well-kept pots and Cornish slate patio – a lovely spot for drinks and mingling. As evening falls, the gardens are romantically lit to show off the fantastic flint and log walls of the barns. SPACE TO CELEBRATE ❤ The Dairy Barn boasts a wonderful 22-metre aisle, exposed beams and benches made of sweet chestnut (120 guests). It can also be used after the “I dos” for drinks or an entertainment room for children. ❤ The Secret Garden is a hidden gem. Taking inspiration from the Dutch term gezellig, the garden is a celebration of togetherness, comfort and enjoyment and is an idyllic spot for your vows. ❤ The Threshing Barn radiates rustic charm and offers plenty of space for dancing and entertaining, with vast windows across both sides (120 dining, 200 evening). ❤ The Collecting Yard is where guests can gather on sumptuous sofas around firepits to enjoy the perfect end to a perfect day. ❤ Milking Parlour can be used as the groom’s quarters or for the bride tribe’s preparations. Couples can also use the suite for privacy during the day or to stay the night should you wish. WE LOVE… the menu tasting events. This year, the catering was taken in-house with the Roots Catering Team, who launched these fun informative evenings when couples can sample canapés and main menu options. There’s also live music and plenty of wedding advice from suppliers. FIELD PLACE MANOR HOUSE & BARNS 01903 446 401 | fieldplace.co.uk Nestled in eight acres of beautiful Green Flag award-winning grounds is Grade II listed Field Place Manor House, a fine example of an 18th- century English country house. The house as you see it today boasts and original Georgian façade and portico, providing an elegant entrance and backdrop for your big day. Among the grounds are the stunning new wedding gardens for beautiful wedding photos, as well as an outside playpark to keep the youngest guests entertained. SPACE TO CELEBRATE ❤ The Oak Room set inside the house is steeped in history. Lined with Jacobean oak panelling, it dates back to 1624 (25 guests). ❤ The Chichester Room is lit by elegant French chandeliers and finished with mink and white damask wallpaper (95 guests). ❤ The Pavilion Barn is a spacious setting with a beautiful private courtyard and licensed bar (150 guests). ❤ Wedding gardens offer a spectacular outside ceremony space with gorgeous white planting and soft arches of wisteria (150 guests). ❤ The Sussex Barn radiates warmth through its oak-beamed high ceiling and new fairylight canopy (120 dining, 200 evening). WE LOVE… the original features of the manor house, which have been restored to their full glory. Records show 14 th -century origins, but it’s the interior Jacobean features dating back to 1624 that are the most striking. helencawte.com marcelphotography.com 30
