Your Sussex Wedding - Jun/Jul 2019 (Issue 79)
The groomsmen wore blue suits to complement Togun’s, although his was a brighter shade so he stood out. They each had a different colour allocated for their socks, tie and Mickey pin. Dad drove me to the pier in my classic 1989 MINI, which was all dressed up for the wedding! The bridesmaids looked fab in short, vintage-style purple dresses. They were also allocated shoe colours to match the groomsmen’s accessories. Togun was dressed in a three-piece suit with miniature drum cufflinks. The inside of his jacket was embroidered the number of days he’d known me. Our three-tier upside-down cake was hung from the rafters by fishing wire to give the illusion it was floating. The smallest tier was black forest, the middle was lemon and the largest was a rainbow cake. Cutting it was quite a feat. I wore a lace Stella York gown accessorised with vintage-style Swarovski earrings and my late nan’s pearls. I also had tiny gemstone Mickey Mouse heads on my nails. A pianist played throughout the day and was simply amazing. He did a magnificent job taking our requested songs and turning them into jazz piano versions – everything from Death Of A Batchelor by Panic At the Disco to The Hell Song by Sum 41. He played the theme from Up as I walked down the aisle, which was especially magical. The place names held the pin badge favours, which I designed to match all of the other stationery. The top table was numbered 33 so we could all be part of Disneyland’s exclusive Club 33 for the day. REAL WEDDINGS 67
