Your Sussex Wedding - Jun/Jul 2019 (Issue 79)

We gave guests pin badges as wedding favours. They were made from vintage soda bottle caps like the grape soda one in Up . Our top table was round and felt informal, enabling everyone to chat more easily. The barbecue went down a treat with everyone, as they could have as much or as little as they wished. Each buttonhole was held in place by a favour pin badge. Togun’s favourite drink is Coca- Cola, so we make sure his was a Coke bottle top. We’d both grown up by the sea, so it seemed quite appropriate to get married on a pier. When we walked into the venue, the view was simply breathtaking. Our centrepieces were Old Rosie bottles resembling the Paradise Falls jar from the film. We put lights inside, tied balloons to them and sat them among tropical foliage. The flowers were all in bright hues to complement the balloons, and the bridesmaids’ posies were tied with different colour ribbons to match their shoes. Little Mickey Mouse heads were hidden in the arrangements. C hloe and Togun met at a friend’s birthday party. They struck up a conversation about Chloe’s recent visit to a comedy festival, where she’d seen Dylan Moran perform. Togun was so keen to keep talking to her that he enthusiastically spun a yarn about how great he thought the comedian was despite not knowing about him! In 2016, the pair went on a road trip across California, stopping at the stunning Yosemite National Park. Togun set up the GoPro to capture a timed photo of them both, but unbeknown to Chloe, it was set to record his proposal. The groom-to-be got down on one knee and presented her with the ring he’d had stashed in the case for almost a week. Chloe said “yes,” and the moment is still available to see on YouTube to this day. The date was set for 15 th September, 2018. Here the bride shares her wonderful memories of the big day… 66
