Your Sussex Wedding - Apr/May 2019 (Issue 78)
66 We viewed so many lovely wedding venues but fell in love with Wiston House from the moment we saw it. It’s such a dramatic building, and the high, vaulted ceiling and massive fireplace of the Great Hall are stunning. The vast gardens are beautiful, and we were lucky to have a hot sunny day so that we could make the most of them. Along with our flowers, which were placed into three glass, hessian-wrapped jars for each table, we also had photographs of us at the corresponding age to the table number. Our blooms were grown on Sussex Flower Farm, which is on the same estate as Wiston House. We chose the colour theme, then shortly before the wedding visited the farm to choose the flowers we wanted to incorporate. They were then given to our florist to arrange and bring to the venue on the day. My bridesmaid did an amazing job with everything wedding related and gave me the most incredible hen night! To top it off, she also made our four-tier cake as a wedding present. Each tier was a different flavour: coffee and walnut, white chocolate and raspberry, salted caramel, and lemon. Our invitations, table plan, place names and menus were all beautifully calligraphed by our friend Ellie. They were simply designed on a white card and finished with purple ribbon to match the colour theme. We were given so many wonderful food options by the venue, and the dishes we chose were amazing. People are still telling us even now how delicious the wedding breakfast was!
