VINTAGE ROMANCE Make-up by Laura Parsons, lauraparsonsbeauty.com “This is my all-time favourite bridal look, being exceptionally flattering to most complexions and skin tones. It’s adaptable and perfect for a spring or summer wedding, also working well with more simple and elegant dress styles” – Laura Laura says : “I achieved this look using a semi-matte foundation, giving a flawless, powdered, porcelain finish with a radiant glow. Once the eyes were primed, I set with a nude tone eyeshadow. I used only two other matte colours – starting with a light dusky pink and blending into a warm taupe. A great tip is to use a slightly lighter shade to apply over the whole eyelid at the end. It blends all the colours together beautifully and softens edges for a perfect finish. My bride had various light pinks running through her chosen palette for the day, so I used cooler pink tones on the cheeks and lips to bring everything together. ” LUSCIOUS LOCKS: mckinley-rodgers.com “For the hair, I’d suggest nothing too elaborate. Simple, soft, bouncy curls or a voluptuous blow dry with an understated accessory or fresh flowers is all that’s needed here.” ENGLISH ROSE Make-up by Lucy Meyer, lucymeyer.co.uk “This makeup style works really well on a paler skin tone and is especially flattering on anyone with auburn or strawberry blonde hair, as the soft pinks give just enough colour to look natural yet enhancing.” – Lucy TIMELESS TRESSES : “Melissa’s hair was worn back from her face in soft open curls, with just enough secured at back to anchor the beautiful cathedral-length veil in place. The overall look is an homage to a timeless English country wedding that brings out the bride’s natural beauty.” Lucy says: “My signature bridal style always begins with beautiful skin, and that process starts from the trial, discussing and recommending the correct skincare to ensure the skin is in tip-top condition for the big day. On-the-day skin prep is also a vital part of the make-up process. I use a primer containing a skin illuminator, MAC Strobe Cream, to give the perfect base for foundation, which I buff into the skin using a duo fibre brush for a polished finish. While we were looking for a departure from bride Melissa’s day-to-day bronzed look here, I still used a golden bronzer to add warmth and to sculpt the face, combining a cream blush and highlighter to create a beautiful rose glow on the cheeks. This works to lift a paler skin tone, especially when wearing white or ivory. I defined Melissa’s soft hazel/green eyes in complementary soft pinks, mulberry and taupe shades – MAC Naked Lunch, Yogurt, Satin Taupe and BlackBerry. Individual lashes completed the look, and brows were kept natural but groomed and set with clear brow gel with any gaps filled. I always try to work with the natural tone of the lip, which was enhanced here using a lip stain, Benefit Posie Tint, and finished with a balm for comfort.” sarareeve.com
