Your Sussex Wedding - Feb/Mar 2019 (Issue 77)
82 MATCH, DON’T MIX Select your precious metals based on the hue of your dress to make sure you wear your jewellery and that it doesn’t wear you! Be sure to stick with one and avoid mixing, which will look messy. ❤ For white gowns, choose platinum or silver ❤ For ivory gowns, choose gold ❤ For blush gowns, choose rose gold BE YOURSELF Our No. 1 piece of wedding advice will always be to do things your way. When choosing your wedding jewels, stick with what you know suits you. If you’re in a shop considering a piece you know you’d never normally wear, then it’s wrong for your big day. Be comfortable and confident, and you’ll naturally shine! As Lulalupin’s Lucienne Strong says: “Go for what you love and what makes you feel amazing!” Rebecca of Pruden and Smith also offers some sound advice: “Your wedding jewellery should express who you are, fit perfectly and be comfortable. What’s lovely about having your jewellery specially designed is that, just like your dress, it can be tailored to have exactly the effect you’d like.” Worth a thought as well is whether you’ll wear it again. If you’re really splashing out and investing in truly special piece, you want to be sure that it’s versatile and can make regular reappearances. As goldsmith Richard Talman of RTFJ explains: “Unless budget really isn’t in question, when it comes to tiaras, you could benefit from either hiring or something costume. After all, it’s unlikely to get the opportunity to be worn again!” SAY YES TO THE DRESS Top of your bridal styling shopping list should be the dress. Once that’s ticked off, everything else will fall into place. Knowing what hue you need to match, what neckline you’re dressing up and what level of fabric detail you’re considering will make accessory shopping a doddle. Also, knowing how you want to wear your hair and whether you want to rock a veil will help deliberations over a barrett, hair vine or tiara and whether the statement will be here or in the bling. STYLE IT OUT Remember your theme. While we don’t recommend being the bridal version of Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat , a nod to your palette through subtle stone hues can be gorgeous. Consider a pop of colour brought into play through your shoes, a hugely popular idea at the moment. Also, bear in mind your style. If you’ve opted for a rustic-, boho- or festival-style day with a dress to complement it, classic pearls and diamonds might not work. aurumjewellers.com rtfj.co.uk prudenandsmith.com olivertwistdesigns.co.uk olivertwistdesigns.co.uk
