Your Sussex Wedding - Feb/Mar 2019 (Issue 77)
I wore a Willowby by Watters dress. I always knew my dress wasn’t going to be traditional and thought it would be a struggle to find one. When I saw this gorgeous star dress in a magazine, I had to try it on. I based my idea for the clear marquee on Pippa Middleton’s greenhouse. I wanted to bring the outside in. When it got dark and all the festoon lights and star lanterns came on, the look was magical. We ordered the same colour suit jackets for the best men, ushers and dads. So that Tom stood out, the other men paired the jacket with navy chinos, all adding a floral tie to complement the day’s boho vibe. Tom loves fashion, so like me he wanted an outfit that stood out from the crowd. I saw this sage green suit online – out of the ordinary without being too much. I wanted by best girls to feel comfortable so asked them all to choose a different dress to reflect their style in pink, purple or lilac. I thought this would be easy, but it turned out that too much choice is not always a good thing! Family friend Roger played in his fantastic ukulele band, El Banda Burros, during the drinks reception. We booked a ’90s band as a surprise, but took a bit of a risk as we’d never seen them live. They were fantastic! A DJ played before, between and after sets and had been briefed: no cheese! REAL WEDDINGS 53
