Your Sussex Wedding - Feb/Mar 2019 (Issue 77)

O n their first meeting at The Six Bells pub in Chiddingly, Tom managed to woo Lily with his impressive range of accents! They had been seeing each other for just two months before Lily went travelling for 10 months, during which time they spoke on and off. But it was when Tom picked up Lily from the airport on her return that their love was solidified. Tom popped the question four-and-a-half years later on holiday in Alberta, Canada. Lily explains: “We’d gone on a hike to a lookout point. When we reached the top, I turned around and Tom was on one knee!” Given the bride’s long-held dream to wed on her parent’s farm, Fontmills Farm Campsite, the venue choice was an easy one. She explains: “I have so many lovely memories growing up there. I’d imagined an outdoor ceremony, and fortunately the rain held off.” Here the bride tells us more about the wedding day of their dreams… I wasn’t originally going to do favours, but I saw this great idea on Pinterest for cute jams labeled with “Spread the Love.” No sooner had I mentioned this to Tom’s mum than she rang saying she’d whipped up a batch of jam. I just needed to get the jars! The Flower Workshop in Heathfield decorated the outdoor arch and did my bouquet, bridesmaids’ bouquets, buttonholes and flower crown and did an amazing job. The florist captured exactly the boho look and colours I was going for. 52 To keep a relaxed vibe, we decided not to have a table plan. We had six long rustic wooden tables, decorated with a hessian runner, wooden log slices, silver stars, jars with LED candles, candlesticks and greenery to create a boho look. I originally fell in love with the purple ombre cake when bridesmaid and friend Kate from The Cake Pantry suggested I could have more than one with different flavours! So I chose two other styles with buttercream. We cut the cake and served it for dessert.
