Your Sussex Wedding - February/March 2025 (Issue 113)

Our ultimate wedding ring buyer’s guide and more With this ring... AN INVESTMENT FOR LIFE As with any element of your wedding day, decide first how much of your budget you want to invest in your wedding rings, or indeed if this will even be part of your big-day funds – perhaps you have a separate pot? Richard Talman from RTFJ (www.rtfj.co.uk) says, “When purchasing your wedding band, it’s important to remember that these bands will be on your finger for life. If you’re going to make cuts on your budget, this place is probably not the wisest place to do so. Along with your wedding photography (and your spouse) your wedding rings are the only tangible elements that continue forever, so the extra funds are always best directed here.” F.Hinds LET’S STAY TOGETHER The experts at F.Hinds (www.fhinds.co.uk) say, “It’s surprising how much of the wedding planning process is done separately, given that marriage is all about partnership! That’s why we strongly encourage couples to shop for their wedding rings together. Choosing your rings as a team allows you to share ideas, offer honest opinions, and support each other in finding the perfect match—it’s a wonderfully romantic experience.” Philip Oroni on Unsplash COMFORT IS KEY The experts at F.Hinds say, “You’ll be wearing your wedding ring every day, so comfort is key when choosing it. You’ll need to consider the shape of your wedding rings. The most popular are court and D-shape. Many find the former are the most comfortable since they’re rounded on the inside and outside of the band, whereas others prefer the D-shape because they’re flat on the inside and sit flush against the skin while still being rounded on the outside.” GO BESPOKE Richard Talman from RTFJ says, “Having a bespoke wedding band is not essential, there are some great products available on the high street. But if you do venture down the bespoke route, remember that in most cases costs are going to be relatively comparable, and you’ll get to choose exactly what you’re after. “One of the key factors for achieving that complete set of engagement and wedding rings is to have the band’s profile (the measurement from the inside edge to the outside edge) identical to that of your engagement ring. This is something that can be rarely achieved with a pre-made band. Likewise, if you need a ring curved to fit around your engagement ring, then off-the-shelf solutions are rarely a good match.” Andrew Leggett from Aurum Designer Jewellers (www.aurumjewellers.com/bespoke-wedding-rings) agrees, “It’s virtually impossible to find an off-the-shelf fitted wedding ring that will fit perfectly with a particular engagement ring, and that also has the right width, depth, and profile. The solution is to go for a bespoke ring, designed specifically to fit your engagement ring.” RTFJ RTFJ RTFJ 55 JEWELLERY & ACCESSORIES
