Your Sussex Wedding - December/January 2024/2025 (Issue 112)

HOT TOPIC Our experts offer insight into what’s set to be hot for 2025 SPECIAL CEREMONY MOMENTS Gitte Monis from Ceremonies by Gitte (www.ceremoniesbygitte.com) says: Just like we started seeing more videography and reels being captured during the ceremony by content creators, I think we’ll see the trend of having a live portrait painter capture part of the ceremony too (think Bridgerton vibes). When your pet is more like your baby, you want them to be part of your wedding commitment too, just like the rest of the family. With the popularity of outdoor celebrant-led ceremonies, it’s easier to have your dog, or a pony, bring the rings for that most important moment. I’m even starting to see guests being allowed to bring their dog along to the outdoor wedding celebrations. Couples are increasingly choosing personalised celebrant-led ceremonies to be able to tell their love story and to create a shared experience with their guests. With couples wanting to truly celebrate their love and commitment without formal restrictions and by including those very special people that supported them all the way, meaningful guest participation is no longer limited to the maid-of-honour reading a poem. Couples are yearning for something more authentic with their besties and close family members or even the entire gaggle of guests. Think a sing-a-long for music loving couples or a ring warming to receive a symbolic, yet tangible act of love and support from everyone. 2025 HOTLIST SWEET DESIGNS Carrie Raymond from Caritas Cake Design (https://caritascakedesign.co.uk) says: Wedding cake designs and ideas are constantly changing. With new sources of inspiration there has never been a more varied or imaginative time to start planning your bigday bake. In 2025 we’re likely to start seeing a return of the zesty flavour palette. Keep an eye out for those orange or lime kicks to go with a traditional lemon flavour. Pair with caramel or pistachio for an unusual combo. Consider a more unusual set up. Shake up your display by dressing your cake on a writing desk or its own plinth and finish with a floor display of flowers or candle lanterns. In 2025, we will likely see more of the flower meadow, a floral arrangement situated below and around the base of the cake, so it’s sitting in a beautiful sea of flowers. We’ll also see richer colour palettes. Predictions for next year include rich corals, muted oranges and teals. Change up a traditional white cake with these stylish hues. Keep an eye out too for large feature bows with long trailing tails, which add a modern and relaxed feel to many cake designs. Combined with a tall cake silhouette this will elongate and elevate your showstopper, making it perfect for smaller, intimate weddings as well as grander events. www.andykerrphotography.com Julia Arte on Unsplash ASK THE EXPERTS 67
