Q&A Beauty Look and feel your big-day best with help from the professionals STEP IT UP I feel like I’ve got a good make-up look going day-to-day that suits me well. So, I don’t want to go radically different for the big day. How do I just step it up a notch for a bridal look that’s still me? Make-up artist Anna Emmerson (www.instagram.com/annaemmerson_ mua_) says: The answer is always skincare! Even if you’re using your day-to-day make-up, this can be elevated with good skincare. I’d recommend you spend 12 months before your wedding day really focusing on good skincare products accompanied by a strong routine. It’s best to see a reputable skincare specialist for this. When it comes to products on the day, opt for highlighting the eye area using three-quarter lashes to open the eye and a pallet of colours that complement your eye colour. On your special day you’ll want to look and feel yourself, but I’d recommend using a little more of your base products to create a long-lasting look. Three of my favourite go-to products to prepare the skin are; Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, Flawless Finish and Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray. This gives you the perfect starting place to create and build up your base. Be sure to find a lip colour that suits your skin tone. Pillow Talk by Charlotte Tilbury is always a popular choice with brides, use this with the paired lip liner either to overline or resist any bleeding on the products. Finally, get yourself some Illuminator Drops by Iconic London, and add a little to your décolleté and tops of the shoulders give yourself that sun-kissed glowing feeling. THE MANE EVENT As a curvy woman with a round face, I can’t decide how to wear my hair for my wedding. I don’t want anything to highlight my double chin! What can you suggest? Bridal hair stylist and make-up artist Poppy Tallulah (www.poppytallulah.co.uk) says: I’d advise avoiding bridal hairstyles that are too sleek, where the hair is pulled completely away from the face as this may highlight your jawline that you’re concerned about. Adding volume to your hair to make it bigger will help the face to appear smaller. Think soft waves with a little root lift and some texture around the face. If you want to wear your hair up then I’d definitely recommend opting for something more undone and textured, keeping some face framing pieces so the hair is not all pulled back. This will be more flattering and softer looking. I’d also suggest, when searching for inspiration photos, seek out actresses and models with a similar look and hair colour to yourself. You’ll be photographed from all angles on your wedding day, so I’d recommend taking photos of yourself at your hair trial from all angles, not just the front and back, to ensure you’re happy with the look and feel confident. 76
