Your Sussex Wedding - October/November 2024 (Issue 111)

I created a two-tier dummy wedding cake the week before, then made traybake versions, which I iced on the morning of the wedding! It took a lot of organisation but I think it turned out great. Our florist also put together two displays in milk churns, and added flowers to our welcome sign to complement the bouquets. As soon as we decided on our theme, I started thrifting crystal bud vases from charity shops. We placed around four on each table and filled them with flowers from a local grower. These were accompanied by LED candles, which looked so good in the barn. Mike and I met with Natalie to discuss my vision and how she could help. She hand wrote all of our place cards on alternating pink and orange card with dried flowers attached. She also helped to create our menus and added some calligraphy to each one. My friend Natalie recently started a calligraphy business and her work is beautiful! She wrote our order-of-the-day on a pallet, and we hired a welcome sign from her too, with a flower box, which she personalised for us. I saw so many people taking pictures of it throughout the day! 36
