Bakery gave them the chance to choose their own fillings, Siobhan knew they’d picked the right supplier! “The cake and doughnuts were a hit, we had hardly any left to take home with us!” Siobhan remembers. LOOKING THE PART When Siobhan started looking for a wedding dress, she told herself she was looking for a white mermaid dress as it was a colour she didn’t normally wear, but a style she loves, and she wanted the gown to stand out from her everyday clothing. “But the moment I tried a white dress on I knew it wasn’t for me,” she says. And after trying on a few mermaid silhouettes, she decided the style wasn’t right for her either. After hunting high and low for something to suit her new vision, she decided to turn to the internet and found Sherbon Clothing while scrolling through the feed of an alternative wedding Facebook group she’d joined. With only three months to go until the wedding, the risk of making such an important and expensive purchase online was a concern. But she emailed the company to ask whether the dress she’d fallen in love with could be made with an A-line skirt instead of a mermaid style, and the reply came back that told her this was no problem within the time frame. So, she handed over her measurements and waited. “With a few updates and pictures of the dress in between, one month before the wedding my dress arrived in a giant box, and it was beautiful. It fit like a glove and was perfect. It was everything I’d dreamed it would be.” The gentlemen’s suits were never a major concern for the couple as they knew they wanted them all to be black tuxedos. Nick’s main priority was how his was to be accessorised though. He’d always wanted a pair of alligator Cuban heels and decided that his wedding day was the best reason to treat himself. To make him stand out from the rest of the wedding party, he added a raven skull to his pocket flowers, and he had a sword to walk down the aisle with. This played a big part in the ceremony, as the rings were presented on it, as per Viking wedding tradition. He finished his look with Viking beads woven into his beard. The groomsmen’s black tuxes were accessorised with ties to match the bridesmaids’ dresses and they each carried an axe by their side, much to their delight! Two of the boys with longer hair, added braids and beads to complement the girls and the groom. “All of them scrubbed up nicely and looked very handsome,” Siobhan remembers. Right from the beginning of the planning stages, the bride knew that she wanted her bridesmaids in two different colours. After searching for a while to find the perfect shade of dark pink, she discovered Azazie’s deep plum and raspberry hues. “Once I’d found the colours, I let each of my girls pick their own dresses, as long as they were floor-length and chiffon,” Siobhan explains. “I wanted them all to feel beautiful, and letting them choose the style meant they got something they were comfortable in. They looked stunning!” To complete their look, the ladies all had circlets made for them, leaning into the couple’s pagan theme. CELEBRATE IN STYLE As the duo are big animal lovers (with three cats, a dog, reptiles, arachnids and amphibians at home), they knew they wanted to involve animals in their big day. Indeed, the cows who live at the venue, were one of its selling points, as well as the peacocks, but they also opted for a birds of prey display. During the cocktail hour, Jason from Falconry UK brought some of his birds along to entertain the guests. “Everyone loved being able to hold them and take pictures. There was a queue right up until the birds had to go home,” Siobhan remembers. In the evening, Deanna performed a fire dance routine. “It was REAL WEDDING 31
