Q&A Beauty Look and feel your big-day best with help from the professionals PUCKER UP I never wear lipstick, but I’m worried my look might look unfinished without on my wedding day... What advice can you offer me for feeling comfortable while wearing lippy? Becky says: A lot of brides feel this way and there are a few options depending on what you’d prefer. If you don’t like the feel of lipstick at all, apply a lip liner all over and then use either a lip balm or gloss over the top for a hydrated finished look. The lip liner will give you colour all day while the lip balm or lip gloss will keep your lips moisturised. One of my favourites is Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk, it’s a beautiful, natural shade that completes your make-up look while being low maintenance. If you’re happy with a lipstick, make sure to choose a moisturising one with a sheen finish rather than matte. Moisturising lipsticks will feel comfortable while also giving you the colour you like. Whichever option you go for, use a lip liner underneath and have a lip balm on hand so you can freshen up throughout the day and feel comfortable. A DOWN DEAL I normally wear my hair down, so I don’t feel I’d look like me if I wore it up for the wedding. How can I elevate a hair-down look to make it bridal, switching it up for the big day though? Shanon says: You want to feel the most confident and comfortable on your wedding day, and if this means wearing your hair down then you must! You can make the style more glam and bridal by using diamanté hair slides to push back one side and show off the makeup. Alternatively, hair bands and a veil over a down style will look stunning too. Getty Images EYE DO I love the look of false lashes, but I’ve never worn them myself. Should I try them for my wedding day? What advice do you have for me? Grace says: Lashes are a fantastic way to finish off your look as they can really define and enhance your eyes without the need for heavy make-up. If you’re not used to wearing them, a few trial runs are a must. There are lots of options when it comes to styles, you don’t have to wear a traditional strip lash if you don’t want to. Daily individual cluster lashes are so comfortable and can be placed on the lash one by one to really enhance your unique eye shape. If you’re using a make-up artist, they’ll be able to do these for you. But, if you’re planning on doing them yourself, have a practice first and remember to do a patch test for the glue in case you have any allergies. Another option is to go for semi-permanent lashes that you can get done before the day. These typically last four to six weeks and are fab if you want to keep them on for your honeymoon. These aren’t for everyone though, so a trial before the wedding is essential. Once you’ve found the lash technician for you, they can advise you on when to have them done and the best weight of lash to go for. If false lashes aren’t for you, an easy option is a lash lift, which will give your eyes definition in the most natural way.
