Hannah and Lee met online in 2014, when they were 16 and 17 years old. “We arranged to have our first date in Bristol,” says Hannah. “We had a long-distance relationship, as Lee was from Somerset and I lived in South Wales. Over the years, our relationship blossomed and we bought our first house together in April 2020.” Lee popped the question in 2018. “He booked a night’s stay at the Celtic Manor Resort as a birthday present and surprised me with the proposal,” shares the bride. “We were due to get married in August 2020, but due to COVID, we had to re-arrange it twice. We first rescheduled to May 2021; however, due to restrictions still in place, we decided to move it to June 2022.” SETTING THE SCENE “I’ve always loved the Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel, as it’s where my parents had their wedding reception in 1994,” explains Hannah. “We loved the space and decided to decorate it with a white backdrop behind the top table, LED ceiling drapes, a dancefloor and chair covers with pink table runners and bows.” For their favours, the couple gave their guests shortbread biscuits in the shape of love hearts and Welsh love spoons. “These included our wedding date and initials,” recalls the bride. “My mum and I also made sweet cones filled with our favourite pink sweets. “We chose a four-tiered cake with different flavours for each tier,” adds Hannah. “The flavours were Victoria sponge, chocolate, white chocolate and raspberry, and lemon sponge. I wanted to add a hint of Cinderella and so our cake maker, Tiers & Tiaras, piped a carriage with our initials on it. We also had ivory lace on one tier and pink sparkle on the other, with pink and ivory roses on top.” The happy couple incorporated their pink colour scheme into their table plan and place names. “We also added the colours to our flowers, which were pink and white roses,” says Hannah. “We finished the look with candles on the tables and green foliage.” For their transport, the couple hired a campervan for the bridesmaids and mother-of-the-bride and a traditional car for Hannah and her dad. DRESSED TO IMPRESS “I wore a Paul Zeni dress called Amelia,” shares Hannah. “It was a button-back, A-line gown with lace detailing on the top and back of the dress. I’d seen it online and fell in love with it. I tried a few different dresses and styles first and the bridal stylist kept my gown until last and I fell in love with it right away. I accessorised with a tiara, earrings by Jon Richard and a pear and diamond bracelet, which matched the design of the dress. My shoes were from Rainbow Club and I bought sparkly trainers for the evening, ready for dancing.” Lee chose a navy suit from Dyfed Menswear. “He matched with the ushers, best men, father-of-the-bride and pageboys,” remembers the bride. “They accessorised with navy waistcoats and pink ties that matched the bridesmaids’ dresses. I had two bridesmaids and a flowergirl. The flowergirl wore an ivory dress with a satin pink belt from Monsoon and the bridesmaids chose pink multi-way dresses.” TIME TO CELEBRATE “We had magician Jason Thomas entertain our guests after the wedding breakfast,” explains Hannah. “This was a big hit with our friends and family, who were amazed by him. We also hired Darren Ganterton from Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel as our DJ. He was great and included all of our musical choices. Lee and I additionally hired a photo booth from Memory Makers Photo Booth, which was good fun and was popular with everyone. This was particularly nice, as they created an album of 37 REAL WEDDINGS
