Q&A Fashion & Beauty Local experts offer advice on how to look your big-day best HOP INTO SPRING What are the latest hair and make-up trends for spring 2023 brides? This year we are going to see a continuation of the minimalist trend. Whether it be a less structured, effortless look or a sleek approach to an up do, attention is going to be on the dress rather than the hair. Brides are opting for a sleek centre-parted style finished with crystals or jewels. This style works really well for the those who want to go beyond the understated veil and incorporate hair accessories into their bridal look. The slick bun will continue to rock strong in 2023. A sleek, middle-parting with a neat knot at the nape of the neck is simple, elegant and exceptionally popular. Sophisticated, clean and fuss-free, brides-to-be are flocking towards this style as it’s super flattering when combined with golden skin. Up dos are forever a crowd pleaser, but more and more clients are requesting the bridal ponytail. These get a bad rap for being basic, but you can easily elevate this style, it just requires a good hairdresser and a little strategy. The bridal ponytail can be sleek and stylish and by using extensions you can add length. When it comes to your big-day make-up, neutrals are going to be big this season. A soft base with a romantic, natural glow will suit everyone, and the addition of golden pigment can keep it super sweet and simple. Aside from glowing skin, a priority for most brides is their eyes. Applying the perfect eyelashes will significantly enhance your eyes, and add length and thickness without over-layering mascara. It’s time to say goodbye to heart contouring and hello to softer blending. You can play up your bone structure in a way that’s natural rather than entirely changing your face. This is a great technique to employ on your big day, as a beautifully-contoured face will photograph well. The above was researched and agreed with Evoke. There are so many different bridal dress trends for spring brides, such as high necks and long-sleeved lace gowns. These regal trends have had a huge revival after the wedding of Paris Hilton and Carter Reum. Her ornate floral lace Oscar de la Renta gown has inspired so many designers to create similar, gorgeous gowns. These trends will be seen all year round not just for our spring brides. Another fast-growing trend is asymmetrical necklines. Whether it’s a ballgown, sheath dress, lace or tulle, this neckline looks amazing. For those of you who aren’t afraid to show off your legs, mini dresses are perfect. This look is ideal for brides who want a more playful style for their elopement, or a second look to party the night away in. There are so many options to choose from, whether it’s fashion-forward and contemporary, vintage-inspired or simple and sleek. There is a mini dress out there for everyone! Capes are my favourite trend and can be found in both dresses and accessories. These have become an alternative to veils and are ideal for brides looking for something a bit different. Some gowns incorporate detachable capes into their designs to give brides two looks in one, but if you can’t find a dress with a cape already included in the design, then some amazing accessory designers have worked them into their collections, which can be worn with the dress of your choice. Remember, when it comes to dress trends, don’t be afraid to be yourself and trust your gut.
