Your South Wales Wedding - January/February 2021 (Issue 77)
FLOWERS 47 Q – We want to incorporate our love of spring into our venue’s décor. Do you have any ideas? Every season has a different feel often reflecting the natural environment in which your wedding is taking place. I find couples will almost always choose the season that suits them because they like what the time of year has to offer. For me, spring is all about pastels and bright, light hues. Pastels are set to become a big trend for 2021 and the darker, bolder shades we saw so much of in the last few years are becoming muted, and a paler palette is taking over. Why not opt for pastel linen so that your colours will pop? My favourite prop is magnolia branches. Set into an arch behind the top table, it will complement a doorway or soften the corners of a marquee. Beth Stretton Venue stylist www.meganandclaude.co.uk TOP TIPS ❤ Incorporate blooms from your bouquet throughout the rest of your décor to create a coherent look. For a wow-factor, hang statement pieces from the ceilings, walls and bannisters. ❤ Use different flowers for your centrepieces and bouquet but in the same colours. Mixing lower-cost options with more expensive versions like orchids can help reduce the overall price. ❤ Look at wedding magazines, Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration. Creating a moodboard will help your florist get an idea of the colours and styles you like. ❤ Flower crowns are a great way of incorporating your chosen colour scheme. ❤ Dried versions, lavender and wheat are perfect for adding special touches to the groomsmen’s outfits. ❤ If you’re having a seasonal wedding, discuss with your supplier what options are available. Remember choosing flowers that are out of season may be difficult to source and expensive. Those of you having a winter wedding should consider using hydrangeas as the cooler temperatures will keep them looking fresh throughout the day. ❤ Bring a romantic and cosy atmosphere to your big day with candles, foliage, branches, pine cones and florals. www.armstrong-millar.com www.nickmurrayphotography.co.uk www.owenhowellsphotography.co.uk www.owenhowellsphotography.co.uk www.owenhowellsphotography.co.uk
