Your South Wales Wedding - November/December 2020 (Issue 76)
We wanted the day to be special for our daughter too, so we hired a wedding tipi for her and her cousins. We decorated it so that it matched our theme, and it looked like a Pinterest dream. We booked an appointment with Dyfed Menswear for Tim and his father to try on different styles. He decided on a navy, tweed suit with a burgundy tie. We made our own pins from gold gun cartridge tops to wear instead of corsages. Tim and his father are into clay pigeon shooting, so it was a nice personal touch for them. Tim is very conscious about speaking in front of a large group, so we decided he would do his speech before the food. For this, the father-of-the-groom made sloe gin, so everyone had a personal miniature bottle to toast with. I wanted my girls, who were all different heights and sizes, to be comfortable on the day, so we chose dresses from Asos that came in two different styles. I asked them to choose their favourite to ensure there was something to suit everyone. For my dress, I went to a few local boutiques, but my heart was always set on an image I’d come across on Pinterest. It was an Australian label called Grace Loves Lace that can only be purchased directly from them. Luckily for us, a showroom had recently opened in London, so went for a day trip there. The dress was called Verdelle 2.0 , and I fell in love with the cap sleeves, and as it was lined with silk, it was comfortable and easy to put on. My godmother made me a beautiful long veil with individual pearls to wear alongside a flower crown. I booked for my hair and make-up artist to come back in the evening and change my style, with more dramatic make-up and a jewelled headpiece. REAL WEDDINGS 39
