Your South Wales Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 75)
FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD With traditional food events off the agenda this summer, many Welsh food and drink producers have had to find other ways of reaching couples. A group of suppliers have come up with the idea to host virtual events across Wales. Nia Ball, Cywain’s tourism and hospitality development manager tells us: “We’re delighted to offer support to food festivals in Wales, while they’re faced with the challenges which arise from being unable to hold their events this year. Many are having to adapt and introduce innovative ways to continue the momentum of their festivals and provide a new way to promote their usual food and drinks business – from virtual food festivals to click and collect food hubs.” Cymru Food Festival is taking place on 12 th and 13 th September, 2020. Each year the St Fagan’s Food Festival attracts thousands of people to the National Museum of History. Over the two days, there will be a variety of activities for all age ranges, which will be broadcast via different social media platforms. Crowdcast will be home to a range of panel discussions and cooking demonstrates, there will be an ale expert, and a bespoke ale has been created for couples to pre-order. LET’S MAKE A CHANGE Cardiff-based jewellers, Laings has launched a summer campaign to mark the changing of seasons and to celebrate the re-opening of their stores. Inspired by their seasonal photo shoot of blossoming flowers, the window campaign allowed Laings to advance its commitment to a more sustainable way of working. Thousands of flowers all made from 100 per cent recycled paper have been used to decorate the stores as a symbol of love and care. Sally Alobaidi, the head of marketing, added: “Sustainability is a topic that’s important to Laings. The everlasting nature of diamonds motivated us to look at our summer campaign from a different angle. I’m incredibly proud of the team for creating a modern and contemporary campaign that invests in our planet. “Many of our materials, including our catalogues and receipt wallets, are made from 100 per cent recycled materials. We want to take this to the next level, and over the coming year we will be building a plan to ensure that we’re using recyclable materials as much as possible, as well as working on other projects to promote sustainability.” To find out more, visit www.laingsuk.com An intimate celebration Tall John’s has launched a new intimate weddings package.
