Your South Wales Wedding - July/August 2020 (Issue 74)

During our first visit to St Tewdrics House, Eifion and Blanche the dog gave us a tour and we fell in love with the property. Each room is beautifully styled, and we adored the grand gates and driveway. The greatest thing was that the price included everything. There were no hidden extras or corkage fee, which was great for us as we wanted to import wine. I always knew I wanted peonies in my bouquet and Lucy from Flowers, I Do was amazing! She was able to source some for me even though our wedding was slightly out of season. It wasn’t until a few days before that she was able to confirm that she’d found some, so it was a lovely surprise. She added olive branches and greenery that we also incorporated into the groomsmen’s buttonholes and décor. The blooms on the staircase, fireplace and welcome sign were done by a family member, Eli, as a wedding gift and they looked beautiful. Our centrepieces were an extension of the bouquets with lots of candles. For our big-day bake, we asked Carys Cakes to make a three-tier creation that would feed 120 guests. We had a family tasting session, and all agreed on a lemon, carrot and sticky toffee filling. I saw a beautiful design on Pinterest where the icing was left unfinished, so we decided to go for a more rustic look. We wanted something a bit different for our table numbers but couldn’t think of anything creative. I stumbled upon some drawings of New York one day and thought it would be a great way of incorporating the place where we got engaged. We asked the very talented Emily Norris from Lilac & White to draw St Tewdrics House, and we used the design on the wedding invitations and table settings. My sister and I then designed the menus and place names and went to our local printers to have them printed. EJ Catering provided our wedding breakfast and ensured all of the ingredients were locally sourced. We then imported Slovenian champagne for our toasts and finished the day with a wood-fired pizza company called Ffwrnes Pizza. 26
