Your South Wales Wedding - Mar/Apr 2019 (Issue 66)

REAL WEDDINGS 45  N ia and Matthew met at school. “We knew each other for years,” says Nia. “We started talking one night when I was working at our local pub and decided to try dating.” Matthew popped the question after three years together. “He proposed at the Isle of Wight festival in 2015,” explains the bride. “I knew it would probably happen soon, but I didn’t expect it at that moment! We were busy having a laugh and were a little bit drunk when he asked me.” SETTING THE SCENE “We visited Rosedew Farm in Llantwit Major because we loved the décor,” shares Nia. “We wanted our big day to take place in one venue so our loved ones didn’t have to travel far. It had stone walls, which we adored, and we just knew it was the perfect place for us.” The lovebirds chose a nature theme for their nuptials. “For our centrepieces, we had jugs of flowers placed on top of log slices,” shares the bride. “The blooms were a mixture of Sweet Williams and foliage.” The couple’s big-day bake was made by a family friend. “We opted for a simple and rustic look,” says the bride. “It tasted amazing and was a big hit with our friends and family.” They named their tables after wildflowers and gave each guest a flower seed as a favour. DRESSED TO IMPRESS Nia chose a beautiful Enzoani gown called Leah. “I work in the wedding industry, so I was able to order a customised gown,” explains the bride. “It had lovely tulle, an illusion back, sleeves and the length was made to my specifications.” The groom and groomsmen hired their outfits from Formal Hire. They wore dark-blue suits with white shirts, blush ties and stylish brown shoes. “The bridesmaids opted for mink floor-length gowns,” shares the bride. “I originally wanted tea-length dresses, but it was a struggle finding a style that suited everyone. The end result looked amazing, and the girls loved them.” TIME TO CELEBRATE “We had an iPod play throughout the day and a band perform in the evening,” Nia reveals.
