Your South Wales Wedding - March/April 2025 (Issue 102)

PLANNING AHEAD When are weddings most popular and when should you book a photographer? Wedding planning often begins with selecting the perfect date, but what are the most popular months to tie the knot? In the UK, the summer months, June, July, and August top the list for weddings, thanks to longer days and (hopefully) pleasant weather. However, spring and early autumn are also increasingly popular, with May and September offering beautiful settings for couples looking to avoid peak season. If you’re planning your big day, it’s wise to book your photographer well in advance. For summer weddings, enquiries should ideally begin 12 to 18 months beforehand, especially if your wedding falls on a weekend or during peak season. Photographers often get fully booked quickly, and early booking ensures you secure your chosen professional. For off-season weddings, such as in November or January, a shorter lead time might suffice, but popular dates around Christmas and New Year also tend to go fast. Whether your wedding is a year away or only months on the horizon, reaching out as soon as your date is set gives you the best chance of working with a photographer who perfectly matches your vision. Remember, your wedding photos are an investment in memories – early planning will ensure you don’t miss out on capturing them beautifully! Are there any pieces you would recommend? Pearls are often associated with purity, love, and wisdom, making them a meaningful and symbolic gift. For mum, on your big day, we think they’re a perfect choice. It will show the love you have for her and signify the years you’ve been by her side learning from her. At F. Hinds we stock some beautiful pearl jewellery. The 9ct white gold-enfolded freshwater cultured pearl pendant and chain is a popular choice. At the centre is an 8mm freshwater pearl enfolded by the curves of 9ct white gold, strung from a matching 18inch/45.5cm chain. This is timeless and can be worn on your wedding day and for years to come. This year’s trends reflect a balance of grandeur, creativity and conscious choices that set the stage for celebrations filled with individuality and charm, as highlighted below by the wedding experts at Hensol Castle. A nod to history with a twist: Historic venues are seeing a resurgence in popularity as couples look for settings steeped in character and romance. Whether it’s a grand castle, a stately home or a centuries-old barn, these locations offer a sense of timelessness that pairs beautifully with modern touches. Neon signage, contemporary floral installations and cutting-edge entertainment are just a few ways couples are giving these classic spaces a contemporary edge. Bespoke personalisation: Couples are embracing the opportunity to create weddings that are unmistakably their own. From customised stationery featuring hand-drawn illustrations to unique table settings that reflect their personalities, personalisation has become a cornerstone of modern weddings. Signature cocktails named after pets, playlists curated to tell a love story and interactive guest books are just some of the ways couples are adding their own flair. Sustainable celebrations: Eco-conscious weddings are no longer a niche trend but a mainstream priority. Couples are focusing on reducing waste and supporting local suppliers, with farm-to-table menus, seasonal flowers and reusable décor gaining traction. Sustainability is being woven into every aspect of the day, including ethical wedding rings and eco-friendly confetti alternatives. Weekend-long experiences: Weddings are evolving into multi-day celebrations, allowing couples to spend more quality time with their loved ones. From welcome dinners and outdoor activities to post-wedding brunches, the trend for creating an extended experience is on the rise. This shift reflects a desire to slow down and savour the occasion rather than rushing through the festivities in a single day. Statement fashion: When it comes to wedding attire, 2025 is all about making bold statements. Brides are experimenting with unconventional designs such as capes, coloured gowns and pearl-encrusted veils, while grooms are opting for textured fabrics, patterned suits and unexpected accessories. The emphasis is on individuality and selfexpression, ensuring everyone looks and feels their best.
