Your South Wales Wedding - March/April 2025 (Issue 102)

The three-course wedding breakfast was supplied by Cardiff Castle and it was incredible. We had a choice of starters, mains and desserts, including vegan and gluten-free chocolate brownies with strawberry Prosecco sorbet and sticky toffee fondant served with salted caramel ice cream. I arrived in a horse and carriage supplied by Kilvey Carriages. We opted for black horses rather than the usual white ones. Our wedding rings from Eternal Jewels were fantastic; they were both white and yellow gold bands and mine had a modest-sized green diamond. Cardiff Castle is so amazing that it didn’t need much dressing. We added fake wolf skins on our chairs to give the space a more Medieval touch and skulls from Chels Petals into our centrepieces. We also bought a variety of trivia cards and had them scattered on the tables to kickstart the conversations. We own two cats, so we had tiny models of black cats on each table too. For our flowers, we chose red and blue blooms with thistle and partridge feathers from Chels Petals. Edward is a big fan of live-action roleplay and owns a full suit of Medieval-style armour. He was very keen to wear the armour on our wedding day, so when it came to looking for a venue, obviously nothing short of a Medieval castle would do. We saw lots of castles all over the UK, but Cardiff Castle is absolutely breathtaking and there was never any competition really. The team at Cardiff Castle were really wonderful people and so experienced with big events, we felt safe in their hands and no request was too wild. They really got into our theme and made a huge effort to make sure it was the spectacular day that we had hoped for. 38
