As a proud mam, I put the photo on social media, saying, ‘Proud mam seeing my boy carrying this flag this morning’. Dan saw the post and quickly sent me a private message saying, ‘It’s called a standard,’ and that’s how our friendship somehow started. The thing that attracted us to each other was how similar we both are; we enjoy a bit of banter and we just bounce off each other. We constantly laugh and joke!” Kath was in complete shock when Dan popped the question. “Our happy place is at Penarth Barrage, where we spend a lot of time together,” shares the bride. “There is a boat there that does day trips around the bay called ‘The Princess Katherine,’ and Dan always said that the boat is named after me, as I am his princess. After a day of Christmas shopping in Cardiff, Dan drove to the barrage, and we went for our usual walk. Dan stopped in our favourite spot and said, ‘Look over there; Princess Katherine is approaching’. As the boat came closer, Dan put his arm around me with the ring in his hand and said, “Will you marry me and become my queen?” It was absolutely perfect; the sun was setting, and we were looking out over the bay when our boat approached. I was so surprised that I just stood there staring at the ring, thinking, is this actually happening? I did eventually give him my answer.” Read on to see some of Kath’s favourite moments from their big day... You make my REAL WEDDINGS 25
