THREE TO ONE MONTH TO GO You’re nearly there! “Work on your wedding ceremony will be almost complete,” Jen tells us. “You’ll have this time to make those final tweaks with your celebrant. Use this time wisely and take up the offer of a wedding rehearsal. If you aren’t a confident speaker, then your celebrant will offer you guidance and help you practice your promises. It’s nice for the two of you to do this separately so that they’re still a surprise on the day!” It’s also time to finish up that job you’ve been putting off: the table plan. If you fear this will leave you tearing your hair out, Vickie has some words of advice: “Remember, you don’t have to stick to tradition. It’s customary for the top table to be long and set for eight people: the happy couple, both sets of parents, then best man and the maid-of-honour. But this doesn’t work for everyone. Maybe you don’t want to sit with these people! There’s no reason why you can’t choose who to sit with, do whatever works for you. Some don’t like being on display like this, and if that’s the case, why not opt for a more sociable round table instead? Alternatively, you may prefer a sweetheart table for just the two of you.” Think about any signage you’ll need such as an order of the day. Craig says, “ Make sure your guests know about the photo booth to ensure it gets used. Include information about it in your wedding programme, on your wedding website, or by placing a sign near it. You could even confirm with your DJ or emcee that they’ll make an announcement about it.” FOUR WEEKS TO GO You’re in the home stretch – relax! Once everything has been handed over to your venue’s wedding coordinator and suppliers you’re in good hands. They’ll go above and beyond to make sure your dreams become reality. The goal here is to make sure you have nothing to worry about on the day apart from having the time of your life. AFTER THE BIG DAY As the sun rises on the day after, your mind may already be racing towards ways in which you can preserve every single memory from your wedding. Of course, there’s the fun of working with your photographer to put together your album to come, but did you know you can also choose to preserve your bouquet? Rachael Ruddle at Flower Preservation Workshop says, “You can pre book ahead of your wedding day, or if you’re not sure until afterwards when you see your flowers start to fade away, we can always accept last-minute bookings. For your beautiful blooms to preserve perfectly, ideally we need them to be at their freshest, so within a few days of the wedding is ideal. ” Whilst it’s good to know there’s contingency for emergency action here, it does pay to plan in advance. Rachael explains, “As soon as you’ve booked your florist, see if they can refer you to a professional flower preservation specialist. Once you’ve confirmed the blooms your florist will use, let us know the varieties and colours and we’ll clarify whether these will work.
