Ashley said all the nerves disappeared when he saw me coming down the stairs towards him. Me on the other hand, I was trying not to have a panic attack or fall down in my heels! We had handmade purple and blue paper flowers for the tables, altar, bouquets and buttonholes. I didn’t want real flowers as I wanted something I could keep forever. They were spectacular. We bought a chalkboard and decorated it with chalk pens before sticking the plans for each table to it. The place names were mini chalkboards to match. I love jigsaw puzzles and Ashley plays poker, so for wedding favours we gave guests wooden jigsaw-piece fridge magnets and wooden poker-chip keyrings. They were also perfectly in keeping with our rustic theme. We saved old jars, which we cleaned up and decorated with purple and blue ribbon. They were filled with battery-powered tea lights and bottle lights. We also had wooden butterflies and hearts scattered on the tables with polaroid-style pictures of us on mini easels. We were blown away by our moon gate, which Alison from Creative Collections pulled together last minute. We were originally planning on an outside ceremony so the flowers would have been on the pagoda, but when the weather forecast changed she adapted the design to suit. 40
