Q&A Beauty How to create a sultry, glam beauty look with Jane Dare of Eye Do Makeup Q: I’d love a sultry, smoky eye for my wedding day. However, I find make-up never stays put. How do I create this glam look without it slipping? This look consists of darker eyeshadow and liner blended into a lighter eyeshadow to create a smoky effect. This technique can be used for all sorts of colours and creates a dramatic wedding-day look. Before you start, you’ll need to remove all make-up from your eyelids. If you get oily lids, use blotting sheets to absorb the oil before priming the eyes. I love the Urban Decay primer as it fills in surface imperfections, preps lids for all-day wear and provides better depth of colour. To apply the make-up, follow these steps… ♥ Place the lightest shade over the whole eye and blend. Follow with a slightly darker shade in the crease and a third shade on the upper crease. ♥ Blend the colours together, working from the outside in. ♥ Apply the darkest shade in the outer corner and blend into the crease, the top lash line and under your lower lashes. ♥ Add a kohl pencil to your upper and lower water line and blend. Add the darkest shade over the bottom liner and blend towards your nose. ♥ To stop products from slipping, use a damp sponge loaded with translucent powder and apply it underneath your eye, getting as close to the waterline as possible. Let it sit for a few minutes, then remove the excess with a fluffy powder brush. ♥ Add waterproof mascara and lashes, and you can also add a gorgeous flick of waterproof liquid liner. ♥ Finish with a dab of highlighter in the corner of the eye to make it pop, along with a setting spray for all-day hold.
