Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - June/July 2020 (Issue 77)
WED-FEST Jessica and Ben spent summers working together at festivals – what better theme could there be for their big day? Images courtesy of Nicky Hill Photography O On her first day at Cardiff university, Jessica moved in with a chap named Charlie, whose best friend, Ben, spent an awful lot of time at their house. “Ben thought of himself as a Jack the Lad,” Jessica tells us. “But he was very funny and caring, so despite the bravado – and a very questionable mullet – I fell for him pretty quickly!” Fast forward a few years and the pair are living in their own home with their beautiful son, Ezra. A few months after Ezra was born, they went on holiday to Majorca. “We dragged Ezra’s pushchair across the sand and down a rickety old pier to watch the sunset,” Jessica says. “We were looking at the fish swimming around below when Ben started telling me that when otters mate for life, the male otter gives their mate a special rock, so she can use it to crack open the good oysters. I asked where my special rock was, and Ben said ‘here,’ and got down on one knee.” He pulled out the most beautiful engagement ring, and Jessica said “yes.” Back home, the pair set the date for 15 th June, 2019, and set about creating their dream day with a church ceremony at St Andrews, Chew Magna, followed by a reception at Tipi Events, Chew Stoke. Jessica continues the story… REAL WEDDINGS 31
