REAL WEDDINGS 27 N ikki and Richard have always felt at home together. “We chatted after matching on a dating website,” Nikki says. “We had so much in common that we felt like we knew each other even before our first date.” There was never a dull moment between them – so it was no surprise that Rich was soon thinking about popping the question. Glastonbury Tor is one of the couple’s favourite spots, so it didn’t seem out of the ordinary when they took a walk there one gloriously sunny autumn day. “Rich was so calm,” Nikki says. “I didn’t suspect a thing until he got down on one knee.” The pair got to work planning their dream day for 2 nd November, 2019 at Yarlington Barn. We caught up with the bride to find out how they did it… SETTING THE SCENE Nikki and Rich wanted to have a late- autumn wedding, which helped them narrow down their venue search. “We wanted to make sure it looked beautiful in the dark,” Nikki says. “Ceremonies here take place by candlelight and everywhere is draped in warm twinkling lights – it’s magical. Our guests commented that they’d never been to a wedding like it.” They opted for an enchanted forest theme with a dark green and black palette. You could see the influence of their theme in the gorgeous green foliage wreaths, brass vintage candlestick holders, pinecones and beautifully scattered natural elements on the tables such as acorns, wooden hearts and leaves. The aisle was also strewn with pretty fabric leaves. The table plan was drawn up on rustic brown and green cards. Nikki says, “We decided to go with table numbers rather than names; this was purely because I wanted to hand-calligraph them and numbers are easier!” To coordinate with the day, place settings were written on
