REAL WEDDINGS 33 make-up with dramatic red lipstick.” Mike looked super-smart his uniform, while the groomsmen coordinated brilliantly in navy three-piece suits with pink accessories. Alix’s bridesmaids wowed in blush maxi dresses with diamanté detailing. TIME TO CELEBRATE To set the scene and create a romantic atmosphere, there was a harpist performing throughout the ceremony. “The ceremony was a highlight,” Alix tells us. “Especially when Oreo joined us for some photos.” Later on, the newlyweds’ friends and family made the most of the photo booth for some funny mementoes before heading to the dancefloor and getting down to the brilliant music from their DJ. “We gave all our guests sparklers,” Alix says. “After dark, everyone headed outside to light them. It was a brilliant photo opportunity!” HAPPY MEMORIES Alix booked into a gorgeous eco lodge at Mill Meadow for the ultimate in wedding-prep luxury. She says, “I loved getting ready in the morning with my mum, mother-in- law, three bridesmaids and my good friend Jodie. We all got dolled up while wearing matching robes and slippers and drinking buck’s fizz. I wrote them all letters and gave them a bag of goodies. It warmed my heart watching them open their gifts.” It was a mixture of nerves and excitement in the morning, but once the day got going, the couple were full of happiness being surrounded by their nearest and dearest. “The speeches were amazing,” Alix remembers. “The best man had everyone roaring with laughter, while my dad and Mike’s speeches were very touching.” Every single guest contributed to a perfect day. Alix says, “While sat at the top table, we looked across and saw everyone clinking glasses and laughing with each other. It was such a lovely feeling.” Alix’s top tip: Start planning early and always remember it’s your day – do and choose the things you want.
