Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - Apr/May 2019 (Issue 70)

The venue was so beautiful, and the staff were really accommodating – nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect, and as many of our guests were travelling long distances, the on-site accommodation allowed us to make a weekend of it. The Orangery in the Walled Garden is filled with light, and the terrace is wonderful for sunny days like ours. The gardens made a picturesque backdrop for our photos, as well as a great spot for kids and our furry companion to run around in! We didn’t really plan a theme, but we ended up choosing items such as the bridesmaids’ dresses in summery blush tones. We wanted to create a romantic and classic feel so that tied it all together perfectly. The Lily Locket did an amazing job with our flowers. I love hydrangeas and lisianthus, so I had those in my bouquet, while my best girls’ arrangements incorporated light pink blooms to stand out. The florist used centrepieces at different heights to give the room interest but still allowed people to chat. When the sun started to set, scattered votives created a cosy atmosphere. Our friend Esther is a brilliant baker, and we were very lucky to have her take control and create a delicious cake with a personal touch. Kieren chose a silver-grey morning suit from Dyfed Menswear for himself, my dad and the best man. His groomsmen wore lounge suits in the same material. Choosing my bridesmaids’ dresses helped us decide on colours, as before that I couldn’t make up my mind. 54
