Your Somerset, Glos & Wilts Wedding - April/May 2025 (Issue 106)

PLANNING SOS 41 to take place during the week. Set aside some holiday days, just in case. ONE MONTH TO GO “Obtain your marriage licence a month before,” Polly advises. “Double check the legal side of things to ensure everything is in place. Then, finalise your ceremony script. Your celebrant will be polishing everything up and you’ll have a final read-through to make sure it’s exactly what you want. Print out your vows or talk to your celebrant about printing them for you in a special booklet. Trust me, emotions will be high and having them written down helps.” It’s exciting times on the dress front too! “With alterations now underway, your dress is becoming the perfect fit!” Cathy says, “Alterations may include length and general tweaks for the best fit, a bustle to lift your train at the back for the evening, and additional adjustments such as straps, maybe a belt, or some lace adding. Then with one month to go, you’ll be ready for your final fittings.” While thinking about looking and feeling your W-day best, you won’t want to drop the ball with regards the beauty side of your look! “Around two months out, schedule a lash extension appointment and decide on your lash and brow shape for the big day. Then with one month to go, finalise your bridesmaids’ looks and advise your MUA. Let them know of any additions such as lashes and top up kit.” You’re nearly there! “Sure up the details and make supplier payments,” Darcy says. “Put the finishing touches on your wedding-day timeline and break in those wedding shoes.” Polly also recommends, “Letting your photographer know about key ceremony moments you want captured, like a fun vow exchange or confetti exit.” Alice says, “The entertainment you’ve booked is due to get in touch with you to discuss all the finer details, at the one-month-to-go mark. They’ll confirm arrival and finish times, song requests, payment and any extras that might be relevant. Now’s the time to ask any extra questions to make sure you’ve got everything covered and ready. Live musicians are professionals and are experts at weddings, so will know all the right questions to ask and things to run through to ensure everything goes off without a hitch.” THE WEEK BEFORE Delegate those final on-the-day responsibilities. “Let someone else handle small tasks such as handing out programmes or cueing music,” Polly says. “This leaves you to relax and enjoy the moment. Remember your celebrant is there to help with any wedmin on the ceremony front, so chat to them about getting last-minute bits sorted.” Cathy says, “It’s time to collect your beautifully steamed dress and potentially your veil. If you already have your veil at home, make sure you hang it up so it will drop beautifully. Now relax, take a deep breath and enjoy. You’re going to look beautiful!” Darcy says, “Be sure to put together a pack of day-of essentials, pack necessary documents and excitingly, pack for your honeymoon.” Steph tells us, “With only one week remaining, I contact my couples to triple check all arrangements, so they have peace of mind that everything is in hand for their special day. My best advice is to try and relax at this point. Focus on self-care and those final details and get ready to step into a day that promises memories as enduring as the ancient stones of Wookey Hole.” Jane advises, “Book your final facial and skin update to ensure that sought-after bridal glow. Then, a few days before, apply your spray tan and go for your final brow and lash shaping. Remember, don’t stress and get plenty of sleep!” And... relax! Everything should be taken care of – the professionals will have it all in hand. All you need to do is take some calming breaths and enjoy this exciting period as you count down to W-day! “This week is about soaking up the excitement, not stressing. Breathe, relax and get excited – you’re about to have the most amazing day!” Polly concludes.
