I liked the idea of buying a dress from Oxfam as they have so many beautiful sample dresses that have never been worn, so I visited their bridal shop in Chippenham. I chose a Hayley Paige gown. It needed alterations, which a very talented lady did for me, and made the dress perfect. My maid-of-honour, my sister, wore a satin dress with a bow at the back. It suited her so well. We both wore the same shoes: simple cream ballet flats. Downstairs there were flower-filled jam jars placed on all the tables, all beautiful English wildflowers with roses, eucalyptus and thistles. We wanted a simple rustic look and I think it came together perfectly. We had four large vases filled with flowers in the hall for the ceremony, two as guests entered and two at the front, which tied together nicely. There were also posies of gypsophila attached to the pew ends. Our flowergirls wore rose and gypsophila flower crowns with little posies to hold. I loved my and my sister’s bouquets and we both dried them after the day as a lovely keepsake. Nathanael wore a navy Ted Baker suit with a slight black check, and light pink tie to match his groomsmen’s. 36
