THE LAKE DISTRICT Spotlight on... STORRS HALL, LA23 3LG 01539 447 111 | www.storrshall.com Storrs Hall is a Grade II*-listed Georgian mansion set on the shoreline of Lake Windermere in the Lake District. The hall was built in the 1790s by Sir John Legard and more than doubled in size when it was turned into a hotel in 1892. There are 36 bedrooms, 29 of which retain their original architecture, so every room is different. The original Boathouse is a luxuriously private and indulgent getaway. This open-plan suite is bordered by a large terrace edging the lake and includes a private hot tub and firepit to enhance the outdoor vibe and complement the facilities inside. This is complemented by the six contemporary Lakeside Suites, which sit in the woodland between the Boathouse and main house, facing west over the lake. Each has a private terrace with its own Japanese-style cedar hot tub. Slide the glass walls back to maximise the back-to-nature feel of these nurturing spaces. Two of these suites are suitable for people with limited mobility. These spaces are wrapped in 17 acres of private grounds and have a dual-aspect lake frontage looking along the greater length of Windermere.
