Your North West Wedding - October/November 2024 (Issue 88)

Local photographers tell us more about their businesses Camera READY C hoosing your photographer is one of the most important decisions you will make when planning your wedding. The first thing you should do is decide on a style that you like. Some photographers prefer to take relaxed, documentary-style pictures that are captured in an unobstructive manner with limited group and posed shots. While others have a more traditional style with more posed snaps. Work out what feels right for you and fits the vibe of your big day. Once you’ve chosen a style, begin searching for photographers who offer the look that you’re going for. Magazines and social media are a great place to start if you need some inspiration. Once you’ve found five or so who you could imagine capturing your day, reach out to them. Find out if they’re available on your date, what services and packages they offer, how they deliver your images and most importantly, the price. Once you’ve heard back from all of the photographers, sit down with your partner and compare their services and prices. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the amount of choice, narrow it down to two of your favourites and arrange a video call or to meet up in person. You can tell a lot about a supplier by sitting down with them and having a chat. To help you find your dream photographer, we’ve put together a feature introducing some of the region’s best suppliers. www.lancashireweddingphotography.co.uk www.lancashireweddingphotography.co.uk RACHEL OVENDEN PHOTOGRAPHY 07725 465 485 | www.lancashireweddingphotography.co.uk Rachel Ovenden is a wedding photographer based in Lancashire. “I’ve spent almost a decade documenting love stories across the UK,” says Rachel. “My approach is focused on creating timeless images that capture authentic moments between couples and their loved ones. I steer clear of fleeting editing styles, ensuring that each photograph remains as meaningful and beautiful years down the line as it is today. With a subtle editorial influence, my work combines elegance and authenticity. I am passionate about what I do, and I truly believe that wedding photography is about more than just taking pictures. It’s about being there in the morning to step in when flowers need drying or emergency scissors are required. It’s about being the one who makes sure you and your new spouse get pockets of alone time amongst all of the chaos. It’s creating a lasting memory of one of the most important days of your life. That’s why I take the time to get to know my clients and their vision for their wedding day so I can truly capture the essence of their wedding. I believe that the best photos come from being in the moment and having fun, unscripted laughter and genuine emotion. I want you to feel completely yourself, enjoy your day and leave all the documenting to me.” PHOTOGRAPHY 47
