Q&A Beauty Local experts offer advice on how to look your big-day best A FLAWLESS FINISH How do I get my skin looking its best in the run-up to my big day and what products do you recommend for a flawless base? You can’t have a flawless face without putting in the work behind the scenes. Your make-up is only as flawless as your skin is. Be sure to cleanse (twice if removing make-up) and moisturise twice daily with the relevant products for your skin. If you have dry skin, look for moisturisers containing hyaluronic acid. If you have an oilier complexion, consider products with salicylic or niacinamide as an ingredient. Drink water and lots of it! If you don’t already, start now. Make sure you implement these regimes as early as possible; it may take weeks, even months, to see visible improvement in your skin. If you have major skin concerns, seek professional help from a skincare specialist. On the day, for a flawless base, be sure to make sure your skin is hydrated. Extra emphasis on moisturiser, even if you’re prone to being oily. All skin craves hydration! Alcohol is a diuretic, so keeping that to a minimum is very beneficial. When it comes to make-up, use products that are light in texture, dewy and radiant. These types of products reflect light, therefore detract away from texture and imperfections seamlessly, helping achieve that flawless look. Keep powders to a minimum and apply them sparingly where needed. As a bridal make-up artist and professional brow artist, it won’t come as news when I tell you that brows can make a huge difference in framing your face. A welllooked-after brow will open your eyes and make you look more groomed, leaving the perfect canvas for your make-up. Book in to have your brows waxed or threaded at least one week before your wedding date. This will tidy them up and ensure they are the shape and colour you want on your big day, while leaving enough time for any redness or other issues to be soothed by the time you walk down the aisle. It’s best to avoid any retinols or chemical peels before having your brows professionally groomed! Hailey Williamson https://browhaus.bookinbeautiful.com www.studiodark.co.uk 76
