Your North West Wedding - April/May 2024 (Issue 85)

Storrs Hall Hotel provided all of our food, including a meal on Friday evening, breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday, and, of course, canapés, a formal meal and evening food on our wedding day. All of the food was amazing and everyone loved it all! My mum is very creative and writes poems for special occasions in mine and my brother’s lives, so I asked her to write personalised poems for our guests. She had her work cut out writing poems for 82 guests and they were a year in the making! To decorate the space, we had a light-up sign in a gold hoop. This was great for guests to take pictures in front of and it acted as a backdrop behind the top table during the wedding breakfast. We also had an amazing, extravagant fresh flower archway created for us by Brackens of Bowness, which featured at the top of the aisle during our ceremony. This added so much to the special feeling of our day and our photos looked great with the fresh flowers in the background. Our cake was a four-tier design with a navy and gold leaf bottom and a marble effect on the other tiers. We had an emblem design with our initials on that our amazing cake maker, The Bakery at No.4, designed. For our centrepieces, we used empty rum bottles to represent the table names with artificial bluebells placed on top, as these flowers remind me of my childhood. We also used gold arches with pampas grass and white roses to give a wow factor feel to the centrepieces. We’ve always loved the Lake District and while on a Lake Windermere boat trip in 2020, we spotted the private jetty leading to Storrs Hall Hotel. We were both blown away by the hotel’s beauty. When we pulled our boat up, Luke said: ‘I’ll marry you there one day’ and so when we got engaged, it was the obvious choice for us! We also loved that we could have exclusive use of the hotel from Friday until Sunday morning, so we could really make the most of our wedding celebrations and our guests could enjoy a weekend away in our favourite place. 38
