Your North West Wedding- October/November 2020 (Issue 64)

REAL WEDDINGS 29 sadly passed away shortly before the engagement.” Mark chose a three-piece Ted Baker suit from Slater Menswear. “The bridesmaids chose their outfits,” explains the bride. “The only thing I requested was that the dresses were royal purple and paired with blue shoes. My bridesmaid, Teresa, went above and beyond and sewed her outfit for the day.” TIME TO CELEBRATE “As we’re both musicians, entertainment was the most important thing to us,” shares Rhiannon. “To start we had a ten-piece brass ensemble called Brasskompaniet join us for the day. Along with a couple of friends, they played all our pre-ceremony and ceremony music. For our recession, Mark composed a melody of songs that are significant in our relationship. It was the best wedding present, he could have given me, and I still treasure the sheet music to this day. For the drinks reception and dinner, we painstakingly put together a playlist of tunes from 1939 to the present day. Finally, for the evening entertainment, we hired Ban’Boogie. This function band is run by our musical director, without whom we never would have met. After far too much wine, we joined the band for the second set and people seemed to enjoy the novelty of that.” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “We picked a winter wedding as we always overheat and end up boiling,” Rhiannon shares. “I can’t thank the organiser, Emma, enough for always have linen full of ice whenever I looked too warm. She is incredibly hardworking and deserves so much praise. She was on hand for anything we needed and seemed to be a mind reader by fixing problems before we even knew there were any!” The couple’s nearest and dearest made their nuptials perfect. “It was lovely to see so many worlds collide and everyone getting along so well,” adds the bride. “Our Norweigan friends chatted away with friends from work and everyone spent time getting to know each other, which was really special. The best man, Sebastian, gave a beautiful speech in his second language about the time Mark lived in Norway, which was a lovely insight into their friendship.” HONEYMOON “We couldn’t go away straight after the wedding due to work, and after that, the pandemic struck,” reveals Rhiannon. “We’re planning to go to Tromsø and have an arctic adventure, possibly stopping in Oslo on the way back to celebrate with our Norweigan friends who couldn’t make it to the wedding.” 
