Your North West Wedding - Feb/Mar 2020 (Issue 60)
REAL WEDDINGS 43 from Switzerland volunteered to make our favours which were small jars filled with different sweets. Andy’s best man created the wedding invitations, and the bridesmaids worked together to varnish wooden boxes.” DRESSED TO IMPRESS Rebecca and her mum couldn’t wait to start looking at wedding dresses. “To say I tried on a lot is an understatement,” says Rebecca. “I started to wonder if I’d ever find a dress until we arrived at Susan Craig. Susan was amazing, and I finally decided on a Maggie Sottero design called Carrie . It was an A-line design with beautiful lace detail on the back. I accessorised with a veil, pearl drop earrings and a silver band around my waist.” Andrew and the groomsmen opted for grey suits from Slater Menswear and Next. “They all wore mulberry socks with different polka dots,” Rebecca explains. “They swapped one with each other, so they all had odd designs on. They also had mulberry ties and brown shoes.” The bridesmaids chose gowns from Dorothy Perkins. “They were a simple yet stylish gown with silk ribbons tied around the waist.” TIME TO CELEBRATE “To keep our guests entertained, we purchased games and an old-fashioned sweet stall,” Rebecca says. “In the evening, we had live music from a Ceilidh band called Kilt Pin Fling. They were incredible, and everyone got up and had a good laugh learning how to do the different dance moves.” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “After months of planning and organising we were both excited to finally tie the knot,” explains Rebecca. “While I was getting my hair and make-up done, I suddenly remembered that we had forgotten to decorate the cake! I grabbed one of my bridesmaids, and we stole some flowers from the tables and used them to decorate it.” The happy couple’s loved ones made the day even more special. “My brother drove my dad and me to the church, and it was a journey I’ll never forget,” shares the bride. “I was so nervous, but we were able to laugh all the way. I couldn’t have felt prouder, walking down the aisle with my dad by my side and seeing Andy waiting at the bottom of the aisle waiting for me. We loved the involvement from our guests. Some had travelled from Scotland, Switzerland and Australia to be there. Everything went to plan and our suppliers were fantastic.” HONEYMOON “We went to the Dominican Republic,” says Rebecca. “It was glorious sunshine the whole time, and we felt so relaxed. We enjoyed a variety of activities which made for an all-round enjoyable holiday. It was the perfect way to de-stress after a busy few months.”
