REAL WEDDINGS 39 G abrielle and Chris met while working at their local cinema. “ We got on really well,” says Gabrielle. “It took us a few months to go on our first date, but when we did, we had a brilliant time.” Two years later, Chris popped the question. “A group of our friends used to go to pub quizzes at our local golf course,” shares the bride. “Chris and I often went there together, and it became our spot. One night, he suggested we visit as we hadn’t been for a while. When we arrived, he asked me to be his wife. It was a complete surprise, and I was gobsmacked.” SETTING THE SCENE “We originally wanted to get married a little further from home, but we decided against it to make it easier for our friends and family,” explains Gabrielle. “Crimble Hall in Rochdale was the most beautiful venue we’d visited. It had gorgeous chandeliers and didn’t need much decoration. The team were fantastic, and we trusted them to make our nuptials perfect.” The lovebirds gave their guests popcorn bags as favours. “We wanted to include a nod to how we met,” recalls the bride. “For the children, we created personalised activity packs with their names on.” They decided to make their table plan. “I used an elegant mirror,” adds Gabrielle. “It was a stressful project, and it took a whole week to finish! The final result was fabulous and worth all the hard work.” For their centrepieces, they chose lovely greenery, white blooms, and floating candles. “I wanted our floral arrangements to look informal and relaxed,” says the bride. “We chose roses and peonies to complement our colour scheme.” The couple’s big-day bake was made by Newmans of Radcliffe. “Our cake was inspired by a design that I’d spotted in the window of a café,” says Gabrielle. “We chose a three-tiered creation made up of vanilla, chocolate and lemon.” Gabrielle’s auntie made a sweet cart. “Our nearest and dearest loved it,” laughs the bride. “She incorporated different flavours and decorated it.” DRESSED TO IMPRESS Gabrielle chose a beautiful Ronald Joyce gown from Emma Louise Bridal in Bolton. “I originally wanted an A-line dress,” recalls the bride. “After trying a few on, I realised the style didn’t suit me, so I opted for a different design. Mine was embroidered with pearls, which I incorporated into my veil, earrings Lovebirds Gabrielle and Chris tied the knot with a beautiful wedding at Crimble Hall Images courtesy of Jessica Reeve Photography Gabrielle Green, 22, married Chris Groves, 30, at Crimble Hall in Rochdale on 27 th August, 2018.
