From the age of 14, I’d worked as a cleaner, a waitress, in clothes shops, milkshake shops, hairdressers and more. Five years later, I found myself stuck in a rut. Office life was not for me and I began baking as a little release from the real world. I baked traybakes with quirky flavour combinations and personalised cakes for family and friends. I couldn’t wait to see their faces light up when I delivered them to their door. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there is a whole different level of satisfaction that comes from making somebody else smile. Slowly but surely, I felt like I had found my purpose again. Over seven years later, I can honestly say I have found my passion in life. I’ve opened the dreamiest little bakery in the heart of Jesmond and I wholeheartedly love what I do. Being such a memorable part of someone’s birthday, wedding, or baby shower is a feeling like no other. Q – What should couples expect when booking your services? So much love and passion goes into not only our cakes but also in coming up with yummy and unique traybakes for dessert tables and I really hope that is strikingly obvious from our bakes. Every single one of our cakes is completely bespoke and tailored to suit our couples’ needs. We also pride ourselves on providing the best customer service, from the moment couples enquire, to the set-up and delivery on the day itself. Q – What’s your favourite wedding cake that you’ve made and why? Two of my close friends married their partners during lockdown and they both went for pastel pink designs with their own stamps on them. I’ll never forget how excited they both were to finally tie the knot after so many restrictions. It was a reminder of the real meaning of marriage and the true love that should be behind it. Q – How long before the wedding should couples book? I would recommend roughly six months to a year before your big day to guarantee we have availability. Q – What’s your favourite part of the job? By far, it’s seeing customers’ reactions when they see the cake they’ve envisioned and designed with us come to life. Q – Do you have any top tips for couples looking for a cake maker?
