Your North East Wedding - November/December 2023 (Issue 59)

The DJ started the first dance off with a romantic song before mixing into Aqua’s Barbie Girl, which I always sing at home. Everyone jumped in with huge glow sticks – it was hilarious! My favourite part of the day? Apart from marrying Scott, it’s got to be having our dogs waiting for us outside the church! Our photographer captured the moment and was amazing. She made us both feel at ease and the proof’s in her mind-blowing photos. We’d recommend her to anyone. I didn’t want a normal wedding cake, so we asked a local company to make big cupcakes. Scott’s mam baked a cake for the middle to match, and I made a sweet cart to place them in. I chose dry flowers so I could keep them, sending ideas to a local florist whose work we loved. The end result was better than I ever could have imagined! I love making things, so I set to work on our favours, creating pyramid boxes filled with mini Creme Eggs; as everyone knows I’m obsessed with them. We found a fully refurbished VW campervan to tie in with our boho theme. Seven of us piled into the back and sang I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker With Flowers in My Hair all the way to the church! 37 REAL WEDDINGS
