Your North East Wedding - November/December 2023 (Issue 59)

We went to a local jeweller to design a wedding band to fit around my engagement ring. They even managed to incorporate some of my sentimental jewellery into the design. When I started dress hunting, I knew where to go, as my best friend from school owns a wedding boutique in Alnwick. I tried on a dress that was the opposite of what anyone who knows me would expect me to choose and fell in love with it right away! I spent a lot of time in St Michael’s Church when I was growing up, as my grandparents used to clean the brasses. I was over the moon when I found out that we could get married there. Our flowergirl’s dresses were easy to find – sparkly designs from Monsoon that my mam shortened to below the knee to match the bridesmaids. Two of my bridesmaids announced that they were pregnant and due weeks before we got married! So, dress hunting for them became a challenge. Scott wanted to wear something that no one would expect, opting for a plum velvet jacket with fitted black trousers and a bow tie with braces. 36
