Your North East Wedding - September/October 2023 (Issue 58)

STRING TO YOUR BOW We’d love a violinist to play at our wedding – but don’t like classical music! Is it even worth searching for someone to play something contemporary? The violin is much more versatile than many people initially realise, and most pop, rock, dance, indie and R’n’B songs sound fabulous on either an acoustic or electric violin, alongside backing tracks. One thing I love to do is take a song that people would never have imagined being played on the violin, stripping it back to a piano and violin version that can even be played during your wedding ceremony. So, if you have a favourite song, but the vibe doesn’t quite work for your service, it might well work as an instrumental version with a violinist. I remember watching Bridgerton and thinking how perfect the soundtrack would be for a wedding, and that’s when the seeds of my solo violin wedding business began to grow. Can you help me convince him with regards to styles and fonts? When it comes to black and white stationery, it’s all about embracing a modern aesthetic that’s totally on-trend. In fact, black and white combinations are sleek, stylish and perfect for a modern vibe, giving your stationery a clean and minimalist look. What’s more, black and white never goes out of style. Classic colours that exude sophistication, they make a bold statement without being over-the-top. I suggest you show your fiancé examples of modern black and white designs that capture the vibe you’re both going for. Seeing the possibilities will help him understand how cool and chic it can look. It’s all about embracing the minimalist appeal, playing with fonts and personalised details, and showcasing examples that capture your vision. You spend every day with your dogs, so of course you want them at your wedding. The logistics, however, can be difficult, which is why using a dog chaperone service can help. Chuck Tails will bring your pooches to the wedding venue (if not already there) and let them burn off energy before the ceremony begins, so your dogs are relaxed and ready. If you want them to play a part in the service itself, we help with greeting guests and even ring bearing duties! We’re also experts at helping your photographer get the ‘pawfect’ shot; then while you enjoy your wedding breakfast we’ll take them on a wonderful walk, feeding them as well so you know they’re having the best time. We can even take them home and stay with them overnight until you get back the next day.
