When my clients come to the boutique, I always ask when and where they’re getting married because this information is important when choosing the dress. For a December wedding, brides will often opt for a gown with long sleeves or look for accessories such as a fur shrug or a jacket that can be removed once indoors. The other trend we often see this time of year is the use of much thicker materials such as satin or Mikado, which are generally too hot to wear in the height of summer. However, with so many places now having a ceremony licence, couples can often be married and go straight into their reception rather than having to travel back and forth in the cold. Due to this, the choices are much wider as any time spent outside could be minimal. It comes down to personal preference for a dress in this situation. What would you suggest? For a winter make-up look, I would suggest a neutral-smokey eye coupled with a warm-nude lipstick – these shades are perfect all year round. A red lip with a subtle and natural-eye look works great for the more daring brides-to-be. Add a warm rose or peach-toned blush to bring the look together. My ideal smokey eye includes a shimmering champagne or pearl-coloured eyeshadow for the eyelid or a soft peach or nude shade for a matt look. Then add a warm taupe or espresso-brown on the outer edges of your eyes and don’t forget to add some product below your bottom lashline to add some definition. To complete your look, depending on your skin tone, apply dark brown or black eyeliner along your lashline to deepen the shape of your eyes.
