The French chateau-style building was built from local stone and opened to the public in 1892. Fast forward to now, the property hosts all sorts of weddings from traditional to quirky, formal and informal days. The museum’s wedding coordinators help couples throughout the planning experience from their first inquiry, right through to waving them off at the end of the night. To ensure pairs receive total attention, the team only holds one wedding per day to ensure everything runs smoothly. Guests will fall in love with the venue as soon as they enter the stone entrance hall and see the sweeping staircase that leads to the spectacular picture galleries and ceremony spaces. The Music Room can hold a maximum capacity of 64 guests for the “I dos” and showcases a collection of musical instruments and paintings. Alternatively, the Jubilee Room can fit 100 people and provides panoramic views of the surrounding area. For larger celebrations, the magnificent 19 th -century Picture Gallery can accommodate 200 partygoers with an unrivalled collection of paintings from around the world. Continue the celebrations in either the Entrance Hall or Café Bowes with a maximum of 120 guests.
