HEXHAM WINTER GARDENS 01434 610 341 | www.qehs.net Rated as one of the best hydropathic establishments in the north of England, The Winter Gardens was constructed in 1907 to extend the summer season for the Tynedale Hydropathic Hotel in Hexham. The venue is a light and airy space with a high-solid roof and natural-sprung wooden floor that’s ideal in any weather conditions. It has a lovely atmosphere and creates a wonderful ambience for any style of wedding. The former Edwardian glasshouse is an imposing Grade II listed building set in mature grounds with grassed areas and outside spaces for guests to mingle, enjoy reception drinks, play games and enjoy street food vans. Ceremonies occur in The Winter Gardens (Edwardian Glasshouse) for up to 150 seated guests or The Hydro Hall (Wood Panelled Room) with up to 70. In bad weather, one of the rooms can be used for the drinks reception whilst the ceremony room is being set up for the wedding breakfast. Continue the celebrations in The Winter Gardens for up to 150 guests for the evening reception and dance the night away! The gardens offer a three day hire with setup on Fridays, weddings on Saturdays and clear up on Sundays. HEALEY BARN 01434 400 044 | www.crippsandco.com Healey Barn was converted by Cripps & Co in 2015 to create a luxury wedding venue while retaining the charm and history of the original building. Located in the tranquil countryside near Corbridge in Tyne Valley and less than 20 minutes from the centre of Newcastle, the location is perfect for travelling guests. Ceremonies are conducted in the Long Barn with a capacity of 144 guests; candles, fairylights and an open fire add to the romantic and enchanting atmosphere. This space can then be transformed into a drinks reception area and dancefloor after the ceremony. Leading through from the barn, the dining room provides the perfect space for the wedding breakfast and loved ones can take in the spectacular views whilst eating some fabulous food. At the end of the dining room is a copper-clad bar with a glass-folding door opening onto a small terrace and garden. Sheltered from the wind by the barn building on all sides, the sun- filled courtyard provides a large additional space for post-ceremony drinks and an excellent location for wedding photographs. There are two giant oak planters with seats around them, six umbrella-topped trees, various benches, cosy suntraps and planted troughs and borders. There’s an open-sided building with garden furniture which provides a covered outside area and the venue’s pizza oven. Lanterns, firepits and fairylights in the trees light up the space in the evening. Located one mile away from the venue, Healey Hall and its adjoining cottages can accommodate 34 guests in 17 beautifully interior designed rooms. When couples book the venue they’re offered regular Feast Nights for couples to sample a range of popular dishes. 14
