Your North East Wedding - January/February 2021 (Issue 42)
Soft and floaty capes are in the boutique now for brides who wish to have an alternative to a veil, it gives extra coverage and is an easy way to add the wow factor to your look. More unique necklines are becoming popular, a favourite of ours is the square neckline and lace is moving away from a vintage look to a more modern statement. We’re seeing brides-to-be opt for two dresses; a more demure traditional wedding look for the ceremony and changing to a more relaxed dress for the after-party. Minimalist dresses that create a timeless and elegant look are trending and we can see why, it creates a crisp and striking look. For the gowns itself, we’re seeing leg splits to give a more whimsical vibe and soft floaty A-line wedding dresses becoming popular. Sleeves are set to be big for 2021, whether that’s fitted sleeves, bell sleeves or big puffy sleeves. Many brides have had it tough but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Trends that we have seen emerging in 2020 and will be big in 2021 are sleeves, alongside a day to night look as brides want two or three looks in one. We can create these multiple looks with statement or detachable sleeves, overlays, adding a belt or a eye-catching piece of jewellery for the post-ceremony celebrations. Overlays are proving popular, which brides can chose to remove as their day progresses. Designers are more daring with textures and fabrics, lace will always have its place but it’s exciting to see the alternatives coming through. Headpieces are always going to remain popular, but things are moving towards more fashion forward pieces; brides are braver, daring to show their personality with chunky statement pieces. One thing for sure is 2021/2022 is going to be a big year in bridal and we’re ready; we have brides covered with our stunning designers, Suzanne Neville, Lyn Ashworth and Sottero & Midgley.
