Your North East Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 40)

33 REAL WEDDINGS I picked a Maggie Sottero dress called Emma because it was exactly what I wanted and had had in mind. A family friend made our cake, which was totally in line with our theme.  I made the centrepieces using glass vases, silver lanterns, pillar candles and glass candle holders all teamed with more grasses and flowers to match. We opted for a small shot to go along with the toast for favours as we felt this included people in the speeches and gave a personal touch. I added a simple veil which worked well with my beautiful dress and opted for silver jewellery with pearl settings. Glen said: “When I saw Rachel for the first time on the day, it was honestly the most beautiful she had ever looked – I immediately told her so.” The groom wore a three-piece green tweed suit and stood out from the other groomsmen by wearing a different coloured tie and also by being the most nervous one in the party! I had a close friend and my two nieces as bridesmaids who each wore a different style dress to suit them in the same shade of green. It was important to me that they were all comfortable wearing them.
